Life Style

back

Lifestyle disorders are the bane of the 20th and 21st Centuries. As healthcare has improved, people have begun to live longer. As conveniences have advanced, people have begun to lead more sedentary lives. As aspirations and pressures thereof have increased, our lives have become more stressful. As dietary options have enlarged so have our consumption levels. Obesity that begins in childhood is a prime lifestyle disorder. Sleep disorders, stress and sexual dysfunction are important consequences of the 21st century lifestyle, where "the most recent deadline expired yesterday". As we play constant catch up, we become vulnerable to a host of lifestyle disorders, with damaging consequences, both short term and long term.
“It's your body and you're going to have a much better life, you are going to have a quality life, better lifestyle, you're going to be healthier, you're going to be happier, you're going to enjoy the people around you and they're going to enjoy you more.”
Mike Ditka (American Coach).

Ms. K a 25 year old professional approached us for for a program for weight reduction and lifestyle management. We did a comprehensive multidisciplinary assessment which revealed multidomain problems such as significant obesity mainly due to a poor lifestyle and inappropriate diet and sleep patterns, and depression/ low self esteem as their consequence. We found her health condition was affecting her work as well as the quality of her close interpersonal relationships. She underwent an Integrated Lifestyle Management Program for 3 weeks which included customised nutritional advice, exercise protocols, Ayurveda therapies for weight loss, relaxation exercises, yoga therapies and intensive Counselling for mood symptoms, motivation and adherence to the treatment protocol. Our integrative team approach, combined with her determination and perseverance paid off; she lost 5 kgs of weight at the end of 3 weeks of treatment, regained self-confidence, and experienced an improvement in her interactions at work and home. She continues our home based program with periodic reviews with our treatment team.
